Painted Metallic

This weekend I had a family get together. No, my weekends are not usually this hectic! I wore a painted metallic sweater from H&M and my challenge was to find a way to make it less New Year's appropriate and more everyday appropriate. Pairing metallic items with dark solid colored pants or shirts is a great way to do this. That is why I paired this sweater with navy blue high-waist pants. Another way it can be transformed into an everyday staple is to wear a button down shirt under the sweater. You can add your own twist to this by wearing a button down with a pattern like polka dots. The sweater is H&M, the pants are H&M, the necklace is Givenchy, and the watch is from Francesca's Boutique.

Animal Instincts

This weekend I went to a fancy shmancy party at my mom's friend's house and my animal intincts definitely came out. I looked like a snear (snake bear)! But I do think that animal print is going to be big in 2012. It was a lot of fun seeing everybody, chatting it up with them, and (of course) eating amazing food. This was the outfit I wore. I was trying to go for a classy, yet a bit edgy, take on a timeless faux fur coat. The snakeskin printed dress is Tracy Reese, the bronze shoes are Jessica Simpson, and the faux fur coat is Gallery. I tried to add a bit of glitz and glamour with crystal earrings, a bracelet, and a silver ring.

Do you think you will display your animal instincts during 2012? ?

2012 Inspiration

2012 Inspiration

Happy New Year Everybody! Start the New Year with a new wardrobe! This year I would like to build my wardrobe around vintage inspired pieces. I made this inspiration board to guide me (and hopefully inspire you too) to add timeless pieces into my outfits. I would also like to buy clothes with different materials, styles, and patterns and experiment with them. May this year be the best of our fashion lives!

New Name, New Design, New Objective- New Year's Resolution?

As you may have noticed, I changed my name, design, and objective for this blog. The name used to be "Blackbird Sings Love" because it reflected one of my favorite Beatles songs, "Blackbird." On the other hand, the name did not really reflect who I am. Although I loved the name, I wanted it to be more personal and reflect me. My blog is now (officially) called "Girl With a Dream." The title alone gives you a taste of the type of person I am- a dreamer. I was really pleased with myself when I thought of the name. It's perfect!
As the saying goes, "Out with the old, in with the new," I changed the whole design of the blog. I got rid of the blackbird background (tear) but compromised with the new layout since it has birds. Let's just pretend they are blackbirds! After the layout was changed, the fonts were changed, the colors, etc.
My objective in making a blog was to share my dreams, ideas, and differences with those who were interested in being apart of my world. Sure, I have only posted 3 times and I am still a rookie, but I was letting myself down by not following my objective. My New Year's resolution for this blog, is to share as much of myself to further enhance my posts and pictures. I know 2012 will be a year in which you will know me a lot better. I hope you still enjoy my (newish) blog and continue reading.

PS My URL is still blackbirdsingslove.blogspot.com

What do you think of the new name and design? Is there any advice that might help to become a better blogger?

New Year's Inspiration Board

New Years Inspiration

This is my first time using Polyvore, and I can guarantee you that it will not be my last! This is my first inspiration board and I hope it inspires you for the upcoming New Year. Sticking with black leather dresses in feminine cuts is classy and never goes out of style. Nude dresses with some shine can really make a statement at a party and can become a very memorable piece in your wardrobe. Make your accessories a statement by buying clutches that have lots of shine, or platforms in a bright color. Most importantly, have fun with your outfit! Always remember that it is a visual statement of who you are.

Holiday Treats

Although the holiday season is, almost, coming to a close, it is still necessary to treat yourself. Buy yourself little gifts that will make you happy- or even inspire you to blog about them! These are a few of the things that I have treated myself to, in order to keep the merriment alive.

My new black quilted Sperry's (My sister bought these for me for Christmas)
You can't take these shoes from me!

Sparkly nail polish from Forever 21
I painted all of my nails with the silver and put on a few coats of the multi-colored sparkles on my ring finger.

Entrance into the Incredible World of Fashion

Dear Readers,

This is my first post and I am so excited to finally be a part of the extensive fashion network! I am still new to all of this, so you will have to bear with me. I have always loved fashion and continue to pursue my joy with this blog. You will see some pictures of me, of my friends, and random things that inspire my life. I love art, music, and photography. I love to design clothes, read magazines, and experiment with different types of clothes. I guess you could call me a fashion scientist since I try to do it all! I hope you all enjoy my blog!
